Pilot project evaluation
Our pilot project, conducted between May 2019 and January 2021, has been independently evaluated. This looked at clinical and legal outcomes after a one appointment short medical report for (mostly) pre-decision cases.
In this project, TID conducted 38 specialist health assessments and produced 38 medical reports for survivors of human rights abuses from 14 countries.
"TortureID has provided an invaluable service to some of our most vulnerable clients.”
Referring legal representative
"I find Dr X’s report helpful in my determination of this appeal. It seems to me to be fair and does not reach exaggerated or speculative conclusions…”
Immigration judge determining a survivor's appeal
"The TortureID report helped his social worker to better understand his behaviour and change his support to be more appropriate.”
A survivor assessed by TortureID said she felt able to disclose additional information because the doctor had “a calming presence” and she did not feel judged.
A survivor’s GP was unaware of the patient’s history until receiving the TortureID medical report and informed that the information in the report had influenced the care offered.
